OPPO will join Samsung, LG, Huawei, and Xiaomi and present its first folding smartphone in 2019. His presentation will take place in late February as part of the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) exhibition. Information was confirmed by OPPO product manager Chuck Wang (Chuck Wang) while being at the headquarters of a Chinese manufacturer in Shenzhen (China).
The representative of OPPO did not disclose any details, whether it is a possible release date or technical specifications, but, if appropriate, he additionally told about the company’s other plans. So, in addition to a folding smartphone, OPPO plans also include the release of a Find series smartphone with 5G support in the first half of 2019 and a smartphone with a front-facing camera integrated into the screen in 2020. By the way, the last analogs Huawei and Lenovo will release already in December.
Apparently, folding smartphones will become one of the main trends in 2019. Samsung has already announced the Galaxy F, LG will demonstrate a branded folding smartphone at CES 2019 in January, and Huawei plans to show its own folding smartphone on the same MWC 2019. It is also known that Xiaomi is working on a folding smartphone, but there is no information about it yet.
Recall earlier this week, OPPO and Nokia entered into a multi-year patent license agreement. In this regard, both companies can use and share patented technologies. Perhaps some Nokia features will appear in the first OPPO folding smartphone, along with an unusual tablet-style design that has recently been patented.
