Asus finally released the long-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo for ZenFone 4. The OTA update with firmware version 15.0405.1711.76 is dated December 29 and is deployed this week. You can also request it manually, by selecting the option “System Update” in the settings.
Back in August of this year, Asus promised that it would update all ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 4 smartphones to Android 8.0 Oreo in the second half of 2018. Later this month, the company officially announced that it is preparing for updates, and the first Android 8.0 will receive ZenFone 4 (model number ZE554KL) as early as December.
In the current update there are a lot of changes. This is a more friendly design of the user interface, a completely redesigned set of emoji, adaptive icons and other innovations in the proprietary Zen UI shell.
Of course, there are also exclusive “chips” of Android 8.0 Oreo: the “picture in picture” mode, autocomplete, working in the whole system, control of background application processes, smart text selection, indicators of new notifications and so on. In principle, all functions are standard. It’s nice when the manufacturer makes available all the features of the new version of the operating system.
