In 2025, the number of users of 5G networks will be 1.4 billion, writes Business Wire with reference to the researchers of Juniper Research. It is expected that the fifth-generation networks will become the first standard of wireless data transmission, which can compete on an equal footing with fiber-optic Internet. The 3G and 4G standards are still losing wire solutions in speed and stability of the connection.
Commercial launch of 5G is scheduled for 2019. In the first 12 months after the commencement of work, 1 million users will be connected to the fifth generation networks, and in 2025 the standard will be used by 1.4 billion people. The researchers calculated that the number of connections will grow by 232% per year, and the new technology will be most widely spread in the US, China and Japan. These three countries will account for 55% of all users. The largest market for 5G will be the United States with a 30% share.
The most popular fifth-generation networks will be among users of smartphones and other mobile devices, as well as in the automotive sector. The introduction of new technologies will result in additional costs on the part of operators, so at the start, 5G service packages will be expensive.
Researchers advise service providers to thoroughly test equipment and connectivity to networks, and invest in 5G. In the future, this will allow them to compete with wired Internet providers and receive large revenues.
